Do you have a favorite garter placement song that is not on my list? Please share your song below in the comments.

Tips

Before you can even place the garter, you need to first get it.  This can be done with the assistance of a garter removal song.

One of the participants in the garter placement is the winner of the garter toss. See a list of music to play while tossing the wedding garter.

Fun Facts

We have garter removal but what about placement? Yes, this is really a thing. After the bouquet toss and garter toss, those winners engage in the garter placement. Fun, right?

Don’t worry, the garter placement isn’t as risque as the removal.

This part of the reception is when the winner of the bouquet toss puts the bride’s garter on the arm of the winner of the garter toss. What’s better?

It’s also fun for a same-sex wedding if you chose to wear a garter and use a bouquet.

You can enhance the garter placement with a drum roll or a song. Of course, we prefer a song for this part.

The garter placement happens after the garter toss at the wedding reception. The typical order for the wedding reception is Bouquet Toss, Garter Removal, Garter Toss & Garter Placement are the typical order. It is up to you as the wedding couple if you want to have some of the above events or none at all. We have seen weddings with many combinations. As always, discuss it between yourselves and with your professional wedding planner.

Of note is that the bouquet toss and the garter toss are great photo opportunities. If you don’t like that stereotype, you can: throw the little black book, toss the boutonniere, and do a sports toss. If you want the photo opportunity and not the garter, you have options. Changing the “removal and toss” will change the “placement.” The point is to wish others the luck in love that you two have found. Rituals define us as humans; they’re important.

The bouquet songs are generally female-focused and the garter toss is generally male-focused. However, if you prefer to make these events gender-neutral, focus on love songs that are hopeful for the future like Michael Bublé’s “I Just Haven’t Met You Yet” or Ryan Montbleau’s “I Can’t Wait.” The garter removal and garter placement songs usually have a “sexy” theme.
