Nirvana Wedding Songs like Come As You Are
Nirvana peaked in a new music genre – Grunge. However, they popularized alternative rock as a whole. Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014.
Nirvana only released three albums before the lead singer Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994. The albums were Bleach (1989), Nevermind (1991), In Utero (1993). However, several albums were released posthumously.
Nirvana Wedding Hits
#1 Smells Like Teen Spirit
Released in 1991 on the album Nevermind
Curt said the song was about teenagers because they don’t follow the guidelines of what’s expected as adults.
I’m worse at what I do best
And for this gift I feel blessed
Our little group has always been
And always will until the end
#2 Come As You Are
Released in 1992 on the album Nevermind
The song is about people and what they’re expected to act like.
Come as you are, as you were
As I want you to be
As a friend, as a friend
As an old enemy
#3 Heart-Shaped Box
Released in 1993 on the album Utero
With multiple theories as to the meaning of the song, one is that the song is about the saddest thing he knows – cancer in children.
Hey
Wait
I got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
#4 The Man Who Sold the World (Live – MTV Unplugged)
Released in 1994 on the album MTV Unplugged in New York

For years and years I roamed
I gazed a gazeless stare
We walked a million hills
I must have died alone
A long, long time ago
#5 Lithium
Released in 1992 on the album Nevermind
The song is about a man who, after the death of his girlfriend, turns to religion as a last resort to keep himself alive.
Broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care
And I’m not scared, light my candles
In a daze ’cause I’ve found God
#6 In Bloom
Released in 1992 on the album Nevermind
The song is addressed to the people outside of the underground music scene that began showing up at Nirvana shows after the release of the group’s debut album Bleach.
And I say he’s the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means

Rape Me is a life-affirming, anti-rape song.
I’m not the only one
I’m not the only one
I’m not the only one

Look for a dry place to call their home
Try to find someplace to rest their bones
While the angels and the devils try to make them their own
#9 You Know You’re Right
Released in 2002 on the album Nirvana

You won’t be afraid of fear
No thought was put into this
