Our list of St Patrick’s Day beer songs celebrates the Irish holiday and drinking beer.

St Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17 every year.  All the songs on our songs list have the word beer in the song title, except for one.

However the main verse in People Are Crazy is “God is Great, Beer is Good, and people are crazy”. This way you know and can sing along with the songs proudly.

No better way to drink green beer than when also playing one of the songs below.

Many different music genres are represented on our list including Country, Polka, Rock, and Ska. Actually, “Beer Barrel Polka” is arguably the most recognizable polka song by the mass public.

FAQs

What days of the year can you celebrate beer songs?

  • March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day
  • April 7 – Beer Day
  • September 7- Beer Lover’s Day
  • September 28 – Drink Beer Day
  • October 27 – American Beer Day

Few things are more enjoyable than an ice-cold beer and good music. The two of them go hand-in-hand. Beer songs are almost as old as popular music itself. The popularity of these drinking songs only increased as micro-breweries became more popular in the USA. The creation of craft beers in the United States was bolstered by the deregulation of beer markets by President Jimmy Carter in 1979.

Of course, President Carter’s own brother was no stranger to craft beer and good music. Billy Beer was the microbrew created by Billy Carter, and legendary musicians like Willie Nelson were frequent guests in the Carter White House. As you can see, beer songs even share a relationship with the leaders of the nation.

More than 6,000 microbreweries exist in the USA. The Anchorage Brewing Company in Alaska is among the most popular. Other successful microbreweries include Arizona Wilderness and the Ozark Brewing Company. The delicious brews made by these companies come in a wide variety of styles and flavors.

Good Beer and Good Music

Another thing that is very popular in the United States is the music festival. Events like Coachella and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival draw millions of individuals who like to enjoy a concert and a brew. It should come as no surprise that craft beers can play a major role in music festivals through sponsorship.

Perhaps the reason beer songs are so ingrained with music culture is that both activities embrace a laid-back vibe. Those who gather together to enjoy a cold beer and a great band are able to tap into a common love for the good things in life. Musical artists understand this and draw upon the connection.

Country music, in particular, has always shown an affinity for beer songs. One of the most popular was originally recorded by the legendary Hank Williams, a man who was no stranger to alcohol consumption. Williams recorded “There’s a Tear in My Beer” during his brief career in 1950, but the song never struck a chord with audiences. It wasn’t until 1988 that this classic beer song became popular when it was released by Hank Williams. Jr. in tribute to his father.

There are many different styles of beer and beer songs. You might be someone that prefers a lager or a stout. Perhaps you like an ale or a dark beer. By the same token, you might prefer rock or pop over country music.

Have no worries! No matter your preference, there are beer songs that you will enjoy on this list of musical hits!
