Some people also say, why go to a restaurant when you can cook at home? These are very valid questions with several different answers. Just as in the restaurant scenario, of course you can produce the same basic product, but usually what you sacrifice is quality and time. The advantage of hiring a wedding planner boils down to three main reasons: less stress, better time management, and a better finished product.
The wedding day is probably one of the most stressful days in a person’s life. For most people, it is also one of the most important. For most brides, it’s the day that they have been dreaming of and planning since they were little girls. In the case of a same sex couple, this could represent a day that they never thought would even happen. For all of these reasons and more, the expectations of the perfect wedding are high. With high expectations comes extremely high stress. Think of a wedding planner as a personal masseuse. They are there to relieve all of the stressful duties of planning a wedding. They are the buffer between knowing what is wanted and getting it. They are there to relieve all of the stress of contacting the florist, coordinating with the caterer, discussing contracts with the venue, finding an officiant, photographer, and so on. The only “stress” should be the type of cake to choose at the tasting. And even then, the wedding planner will be there to make suggestions the couple might not have considered.
The wedding planner is also impartial to the wedding party and is able to help refocus strong opinions, along with the wants and needs of family and friends, back onto the wedding couple. They can be the “bad guy” spokesperson for the couple. Therefore, any and all negativity can be deflected away from the couple and onto the wedding planner.
People who have never planned a wedding really don’t understand all of the time that goes into making that day special. The wedding planner understands timelines and can ensure that everything is done in an efficient and productive timeframe. While the wedding planner is focusing on the coordination of all of the moving parts of the wedding, the couple can focus on the fun parts, like the wedding showers and bachelor parties.
The goal of the wedding planner is to produce an amazing finished product. Their main goal is to ensure that the couple’s vision is brought to fruition. A good wedding planner will get everything the couple wants and well as suggest things they might not have thought of. They will walk the couple through everything they need and answer any questions they may have. They will use their experience to inform the couple about traditions, formalities, legal requirements, and little things they can add to make their wedding even more special. A good wedding planner will listen to what a couple wants, and envisions the end product as seen through their eyes.
People should eat out because Chefs make excellent food. Cooking is what they do, so they know all of the intricate details that produce a great product. That is exactly what wedding planners do. They are the experts in their field. They know all of the little nuances that need to be done in order to produce a great product; your wedding.
