Ed Sheeran is a must if you want your wedding song choices to be modern, and his voice on this romantic ballad is filled with a depth of emotion a few singers can achieve. Place your head on my beating heart

I Don’t Dance – Lee Brice
February 2014, I Don’t Dance
A song with this title might not seem like a good choice for a wedding reception, but the 2014 hit from Lee Brice is often found on the playlists of modern couples. The twist here is that the song is meant to inspire dancing, and it will do exactly that for your guests.

‘Cause you took these two left feet
And waltzed away with my heart
No, I don’t dance, but here I am

Uptown Funk – Mark Ronson with Bruno Mars

Best Day Of My Life – American Authors
March 2014, Oh, What a Life
Most people would agree that a wedding is the best day of their life, and that is the theme that runs through this American Authors song. Couples will probably want to save it for the reception where everyone can dance to the tune and reflect on what it means to be happy in love.  The song also makes for a great recessional song.

Coldplay has managed to deliver some memorable music throughout their career despite being largely ignored by mainstream radio, and this song from 2014 is played at many modern weddings. It can be used in a variety of ways, but many couples like to reserve it for their first dance.

‘Cause you’re a sky, ’cause you’re a sky full of stars
I want to die in your arms
‘Cause you get lighter the more it gets dark
I’m gonna give you my heart

All About That Bass – Meghan Trainor
