When creating a wedding registry, you must consider all factors of your household. Try to think about a registry first for what you need and not what you want. Be sure to review all items that each of you will bring into the relationship. What will you have double of and where will it all go? In addition, what do you want to have new that will be considered “ours” instead of his or hers?
Wedding registries are a great way to ask for those items that both of you need and want as “ours”. In many situations, you need cookware for making meals, you need electronics for entertainment and financial planning, you need dinnerware and glassware to eat on, furniture to sit on and so on. One particular registry may not meet all of your needs. This is why MyRegistry.com is a great solution for combining many businesses’ registries into one.
MyRegistry offers popular stores:
Home goods stores – Pottery Bard, Crate & Barrel and Target
Electronic stores – Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon
Outdoor goods – REI, Sears
For The Home – Bloomingdales, West Elm, Ethan Allen.
As we are all constant mobile users, a great feature is the ability to scan barcodes with your cell phone and add them to your registry. This way you can go and see the items in person to add to your list without the use of paper! The worry of seeing what items look like in person is better than hoping it looks like the picture online. Other great features of the app include managing your registry, add items not in the store or online, and marking items as purchased.
What about those couples that are bringing two full households together? MyRegistry offers the option for cash gifts as well. Want extra spending money for your honeymoon, saving up for a dream vacation or a big purchase like a down payment on a new home? Then a cash registry is a perfect fit.
In conclusion, what aspects of MyRegistry excite us? You get a personalized look to your registry like a wedding registry website. You have one location for multiple stores helping you get exactly what you want instead of having multiple registries. You have it all in one universal gift registry.

Not too many times do we get excited about gifts for Grooms and Groomsmen as many fall into the traditional ideas of flasks, knives, mugs and money clips. However, uniques gifts do exist to break the norm. We are big believers of watches as gifts for grooms and groomsmen. We have always promoted unique pocket watches. However, Jord has taken the stance of being different to a new stage. Jord offers a line of watches with wood wrist bands. Yes, that’s right – real wood!
Manly Gift Idea for Groom
Based in Missouri, my wood watch arrived a couple days after placing an order. Jord offers a unique approach to watches by getting away from metals and rubber by using REAL WOOD wrist watches. Their collection of watches include wood choices from around the world.
The watch I ordered arrived in a padded white box specifically sized just for a watch. Kudos for attention to the little details.
Here is a picture of the watch box.
Next came opening the box to see my prized gift. Before I get there. Let me tell you about what watch I selected. Being a huge movie buff, I head down to the local movie theater about twice a month. I can never see what time it is while in the movie. It’s not like I can pull out my phone to see what time it is, respectfully. Therefore, I selected a watch model that had a white face with black hands. In addition, I selected more of a cherry looking wood. The best part is that the timepiece is embedded right into the wood.
Then, the moment of truth.
Wow, is this watch awesome! Just had to take the watch out of the box to check it out. To my enjoyment, the watch actually really was made from real wood. Here’s a close-up of the watch face I chose.
Unfortunately, my wrists are not very big and I needed to remove some of the links. Jord recommended taking the watch to the local watch shop to get the links removed. However, I purchased two eye glass screwdrivers and removed the links myself. Three dollars was much less that taking to a watch specialist.
The watch was delivered on Friday and I did not take the watch out to the Vegas Strip until Sunday. You don’t have to believe me, but I actually received a compliment on the watch at a watch store – just proving the point of how really cool, personal and unique the watch is to wear.
It will be a true pleasure to help promote Jord to all of my followers, friends and family. I hope you do the same by promoting another U.S.A. based business.
See below of pictures of the watch on my wrist in front of the Bellagio and also at the Bellagio’s Conservatory.

What exactly is a Chillsner? Well, we have heard about it in the past with much intrigue but this is our first time actually seeing it and ultimately using it. Yes, we did use the Chillsner as we do write a review on anything we do not actually use ourselves. Matt is an avid beer advocate and is very knowledgable on beer. Craft beers has grown in each of the past several years and now surpasses 7% of American beer sales. For more information about choosing craft beer for a wedding, be sure to read our article Selecting the right beer for your wedding.
Plain and simple, the Chillsner is a way to keep your beer cold. Most Americans like their beer cold. Particularly Lager beers are better cold as they are fermented cold. The device is a “bottle chiller”. Upon opening the package, beer enthusiasts must first wash the Chillsner with dish soap and either had dry or air dry. Then, place the device into the freezer, not in the ice maker, for 45 minutes. Before placing the rod into a beer, be sure to take a couple of drinks from the beer to make room for the rod. Next, push the rod into the beer all the way into the bottle. This will take some force. Lastly, enjoy the taste of chilled beer to the last drop. Set aside from the use of keeping the beer chilled, they make great gifts too. It makes a great wedding gift! Check it out all wedding gifts here.
Well, now that we’ve given you the details, here are the pro’s and cons. Want to see the chilsner official specs? Check out this link.
The Chillsner does keep your beer chilled throughout the time I drank my beer(s).
The stainless steel material is easy to clean.
The stainless steel material has a sense of cleanliness while drinking a beer. You are guaranteed to touch a clean surface on the device where as who knows where the actual bottle has been in the past.
You not only get one but you get a two pack with your purchase so the beers are always chilled.
The rod does fit the 93 percent of beers sold in America from the major brands from Budweiser, Miller and Coors. However, not all bottles are made the same. The Chillser comes in one size and the rod is not retractible. This means you can not use it in a Full Sail Sessions Beer (short and stout), and Pyramid Brewery (short stature) style bottles. The only thing that really concerns me is that I had a microbrew of the 22 oz style and the rod did not fit into the bottle. The bottle was too narrow at the top for the rod.
To start the month of October in proper fashion, Team My Wedding Songs walked today in the 2011 American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The walk took place at the JW Marriott/Rampart Casino. With thousands of attendees, we look to support all people with breast cancer.
We would like to thank our team members in joining us in the walk – Matt, Sharon, Rob, Mandy, Molly, Christine, Brock, Sally, Ethan, Vince and Sam. We raised funds in order to find a cure for this terrible disease. We would also like to remember our friend Sharon Schoessler who lost her fight against breast cancer in 2010.
Well, it has been a long time coming. We are happy to say that we finally can offer great wedding badges to add to your websites to link to My Wedding Songs. Another name for badges are banners. The size we decided on is 120×120. Not too big and not too small. For official linking instructions, please go to our links page.
