Hi everybody, I’m Matthew Campbell, and welcome to the 26th episode of the Wedding Songs Podcast. Hard to believe, but this episode marks six months in a row that we’ve been online. I do release a new episode every Saturday morning. So thank you for tuning in. At the time of this recording is Wednesday, July 15th to be released on July 18th, just in case something happens in between. I probably am not going to mention it in this episode as in all of our other episodes. You can read this episode on our website, myweddingsongs.com. This week we’re going to be talking about brothers’ songs. So these could be played during the reception to dedicate to your brother or if you’re out having a drink with your brother as well. You can play some of these songs too if you want to follow along a home.

Our list will be listed by alphabetical order by artists, and then by song title. So let’s go ahead and get started with our first song. It is by Arcade Fire “The Suburbs” released in 2010. It’s a great song for the rock fans that want to play this at their wedding. The next song is for EDM fans and that is Avicii and his song “Hey Brother” released in 2013 on his album True. It’s a great song to sing along and dance to as well. Brett Eldridge is next on the list with his country song “Brother” released in 2017 on his album Brett Eldridge. In 1996, the boss, Bruce Springsteen, released the song “Blood Brothers” one song to check out for rock fans. Speaking of rock fans, Carlos Santana and his song released in 1980 called “Song of My Brother” on the album Swing of Delight. He is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

He has also had a residency in Las Vegas and hopefully, he does come back for that. DA Games released the song “Brothers in Arms” in 2018. One of the greatest artists of all time David Bowie had the song “The Bewlay Brothers” released in 1971 on his album, Hunky Dory. Just for indie rock fans Death Cab for Cutie released “Brothers on a Hotel Bed” in 2005 on their album Plans. Next up is one of my favorite groups of all time Dire Straits and their song “Brothers in Arms”. It is definitely a great rock song and one of the greatest of all time on the album Brothers in Arms released in 1985. Sir Elton John and his song “The Greatest Discovery” was released in 1970 on his Elton John album. The next song does not have a brother in the title, but it is a group of brothers. Hanson and their very popular song MMMBop was released in 1997.

(03:09)
Wow, 1997 was already 23 years ago, and their album Middle of Nowhere. I guess they’re not kids anymore, being that it was 23 years ago. For classic rock fans, the Hollies with one of their popular brother songs “He Ain’t Heavy. He’s My Brother” released in 1969 on their album, Hollies Sing Hollies. The lead singer Darius Rucker and his group Hootie and the Blowfish with the song “Little Brother” released in 2003 on the Hootie and the Blowfish album. Justin Hayward and John Lodge released the song “My Brother” on their album, Blue Jays in 1987. The next person on our list just announced that he was going to be running for President of the United States, and that is Kanye West and his song “Big Brother” released in 2007 on his Graduation album. One of my favorite modern indie songs is Kodaline’s “Brother” released in 2018 on their Politics of Living album. Country group LoCash and their song “Brothers” released in 2019 on the album Brothers.

(04:19)
Staying with the country theme is Luke Bryan’s “Blood Brothers” released in 2013 on his album Crash My Party. Needtobreathe released the song “Brother” in 2014 on their album Rivers in The Wasteland. Needtobreathe is definitely a great modern rock band to check out. Neil Diamond is on our list twice with his first song “Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show” released in 1969. He also did “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” in 1970. Yep, it’s the same song by The Hollies. Papa Roach is up next with “Blood Brothers” released in 2000 on their album Infest. For grunge fans, Pearl Jam released “Brother” in 2003 on their album Lost Dogs. Rare Earth has its song “Hey, Big Brother” released in 1971 for classic rock fans on their album Rare Earth In Concert. The Stories released “Brother Louis” in 1973 as a single. Another classic rock band Thin Lizzie’s “The Boys Are Back in Town” one of my favorite garter toss songs released in 1976 on their album Jailbreak.

(05:37)
The band War released “Me and Baby Brother” in 1973 on their album Deliver the Word. The last song on our list is The Winstons with “Amen Brother” released in 1969 on the album Color Him Father. So there you have it. Our favorite list of brother songs. Brother may or may not be in the title, but definitely a favorite brother song list. If you have any suggestions for songs not on our list or you have problems with one of them, reach out to us on our Facebook page.
