Sister Songs: Brides & Sisters Celebrating Love and Friendship
Updated March 14, 2024 | Author: Matthew Campbell
Most sisters grow up close to one another — though they may have argued about bathroom time or stolen one another’s clothes (or boyfriends). Sisters help one another in hard times and celebrate in good times.
Your sister is just as important to you now that you’re a bride, as she was during your childhood — maybe more. So, why not honor her? Select a song that has a special meaning between you as sisters.
Quick Tips
When picking out the song to play for your sister, you must consider the following 3 factors:
1. Does the song have a special meaning to both of you?
2. Does the song’s meaning describe your relationship?
3. What is the tempo of the song (fast or slow) to determine the style of dance that fits best (if you dance together)?
As an experienced wedding DJ, I’ve assembled a list of songs about sisters. Songs are selected by the meaning of the song and popular hits by today’s marriers. Besides new and trending, additional lists are grouped by genre to match your taste in music.

Surprised to see Re: “My Sister” by Juliana Hatfield Three on this list. The song was originally released in 1993 and the opening lyrics are: “I hate my sister, she’s such a b*tch / She acts as if she doesn’t even know that I exist”.”
Ho Corinne. Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the song does not describe a loving relationship between sisters. However, the song does describe a sister relationship. For those reading this, Hatfield’s song is one to avoid for any wedding!
I think most of these are good songs for sisters, but whoever put “Little Sister” by Jewel clearly has not actually listened to the song. It is not a happy song at all, it is about trying and failing to help a little sister who is addicted to drugs, and I highly discourage playing it at a wedding.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the song Ellie. We have removed the Jewel song from our list.
I have 9 Sister’s and 5 Brother’s and let me tell you I really love and appreciate them and I cherish our friendship and memories that we have been through we were so close together and if one of us was hurting we all supposed each other it was a warm and loving time together we knew who each other was as sisters and friends they really are your first along with our mom she was loving caring and understanding and patience and support our dreams and aspirations and we just knew our mom is the one who kept it together we miss her more and more since God took her in 2014 and I am shamed to say now for whatever reason our sisters all have scattered and our closeness don’t feel the same yes we love each other but I am here to tell you that if u have sister or Sister’s do everything with them and cherish every day and night and never stop loving or going out days together dance talks smiles etc my point is if you have a special song for them or poem should share it with them because as you know tomorrow is not promised and then you wish you all reached out to say all

Sister sister
Hi Kate. I am assuming you are talking about the theme song from the sitcom Sister Sister? The song by Tia & Tamera Mowry. I also see the same song title by Berlin Irving. However, neither song is available on Youtube, Amazon or iTunes??!!
Does anyone know of ANY songs about (half) sisters finding each other and are now apart of each others lives?
Hi Irene. Sorry, we do not have any recommendations for half sister songs at this time. Thanks for posting though and we will research for a fusture post. Hopefully someone else has some suggestions.
Count on me by Bruno Mars is a good “sister” song too. :)
Hey Soul Sister is a nice song to add
Thanks Marti
